Penny Banner, the PGWA Commissioner, had a long and glorious ring career
where she battled all of the top names and usually came out on top.
But although Penny retired from the ring some time ago, she is now
facing the toughest battle of her life.
As she revealed in the PGWA Yahoo Group a couple of weeks ago, Penny
has been diagnosed with cancer. And in fact today, November 25, she is
in the operating room for exploratory surgery so her doctors can decide
their best course of action.
Cancer is often the dealiest of diseases… but… if Penny’s life and
career have proved anything, they prove she is tough both mentally and
physically, and a born competitor who just refuses to lose. And we here
at the PGWA are betting Penny will refuse to let this get the better of her
either!
There is one other important element in the mix if one is to successfully
battle this disease and that is attitude. A postive attitude is essential
and luckily, Penny possesses this in full measure as well.
We here at the PGWA wish Penny the best of luck in this new struggle.
And she knows she has our whole hearted support in her battle. If there’s
