If there was ever a wrestling match that kept you on the edge of your seat, then it happened on Friday, May the 29th.

Tracy Taylor defended her PGWA Championship once again, over a towering challenge from the mighty Isis, who stands 6'10"... a full 16" over the Champ! The two met in Winston Salem, North Carolina, on a card presented by the NWA Carolinas organization.

Isis is new to wrestling, but has been training hard for many months, bolstering her matchless raw strength with genuine mat skills to make herself even more formidable. Make no mistake about it, she's no ordinary rookie... and not simply because she is a veritable Amazon!

Few (if any) of the fans in attendance have ever seen a woman as tall as Isis in person before, and eyes went wide as she easily stepped over the top rope to enter the ring. Tracy came out to the ring to the cheers of the fans; some of them had heard that Taylor recently recanted her rulebreaking ways and was a fan favorite again, and they were supporting her for that. But most were simply offering their moral support to the Hawaiian for what seemed to be an impossible challenge. The two women glared at each other prior to the match with incredible intensity; if either could have pinned the other with a look alone, then one of these two would have been put to the mat for three in the space of a heartbeat!

From the opening bell, Isis aggressively sought to take control of the match... and she frequently succeeded. At one point, she seemed to mock her shorter opponent even as she tortured her, when Isis dropped down to her knees to achieve a bit of 'height parity' with Taylor, and she nearly snapped the Champ in two with a crippling bearhug!

Repeatedly, the challenger would lock Tracy into a complex hold, or else go for a pin, but each time the more experienced Taylor would manage to narrowly escape. And with each escape, Isis grew more frustrated, pounding at the mat and shouting in anger at being denied her victory. It was almost frightening to watch this indescribably powerful wrestler on the verge of blind rage.

The Hawaiian cannily used her more learned ring skills to offset her adversary's size and strength advantages. As she said in the locker room afterward, "My strategy was to keep her down on the mat as much as I could." It was an excellent strategy, as doing so neutralized a lot of opportunities for Isis.

But as the match wore on and Isis grew more and more frustrated, she managed to throw the Champ out of the ring, where she battered Tracy around, such as when she repeatedly slammed Taylor's face into the ring apron. The size discrepancy between the two was never clearer to the fans than as the two women battled it out right there, mere inches from the seats!

With the minutes ticking by, things appeared bleaker and bleaker for the Champion, as her furious opponent appeared unstoppable. But what makes a champion truly great is her ability to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Carefully waiting for her chance, she seized it when it came, nailing Isis with her "Coconut Crusher" finisher. Before the Amazon could begin to gather her wits, Taylor pressed her shoulders down to the canvas, and the referee counted off 1... 2... 3!

Tracy Taylor continues to prove herself a worthy PGWA Champion. She never once seemed to lose her focus, even as Isis did her worst. Indeed, the PGWA is proud of and impressed with both women, and happy to have brought a match of this caliber to the fans. Without a doubt, the fans who were at the arena on this night were more than a little impressed with the two of them!

Afterward, Isis complained that she had been "robbed", and she demanded a rematch. Having taken the full measure of this awesome woman and now knowing she could beat her, Tracy agreed. As soon as this title match is booked, LadySports Online will share the full details with fans!
