Standing nearly six feet tall, Courtney Synn is the veritable Amazon of British pro wrestling...a platinum blond warrior who will do what it takes to win, and who doesn’t care who she’s doing it to. In this exclusive LadySports Online interview, she shares her thoughts on a wide array of subjects, and she doesn’t pull any punches!

Ring Name: Courtney Synn
Height: 5"11
Weight: 160 lbs
Hair: Platinum Blonde
Hometown: Newcastle , England

LADYSPORTS: When did you first get into the sport?
COURTNEY SYNN: I started watching when I was 13, and the first match I ever saw was a women’s match...Tori Wilson versus someone I can’t remember...and that was it, I was hooked and I knew it was something I wanted to do! A year later I went along to a local show and talked to them about training. They told me to come back when I was 15, so I did and it all started from there, really.

LS: Who trained you?
CS: An indy guy named the Assassin taught me the basics, and Tracy Smothers has helped me out a lot, as has Joe Legend. I did a training seminar with American Dragon as well.

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
CS: Tori at first, ‘cause she could wrestle, and even worked hardcore matches barefoot. I thought, “Wow, this chick is tough!” Sunny influenced me to an extent because I loved her whole character. And Stephanie McMahon as well...I loved the ‘Million Dollar Princess’ bitchy gimmick

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
CS: Horse riding...I started when I was 3. I love show jumping, and I actually worked as a riding instructor and a groom for three years, but found it hard to do that and wrestle, so I chose wrestling. I think when I’m done I’ll go back to horses, though.

LS: How would you describe yourself?
CS: I’m a BITCH...I don’t take any crap from anyone, I know what I want and exactly how to get it, and if anyone crosses me or gets in my way, they’re gonna live to regret it!

LS: What is your most marked characteristic?
CS: Probably my height and my overall look.

LS: What are you favorite foods, music, clothes, cars?
CS: favorite music is 80's rock like Mötley Crüe, Poison and Bon Jovi, with a bit of Fear Factory and a lot of the Wildhearts...they’re my favorite band ever. And of course Courtney Love, Hole, and the Distillers. Favorite food is probably homemade ravioli or pizza with tons of mushrooms. As for clothes I kinda go for an alternative but trendy look, kinda like a rock star’s wife! Lots of jeans, tight “wifebeaters,” band t-shirts, and some hot platform shoes. My dream car would have to be a pink soft top Beetle like Barbie’s!

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
CS: Cardio is most important to me at the minute because I’m trying to drop some weight and tone up. I’m starting to really get into Pilates as well...it’s great for your back and improving muscle tone.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
CS: I like to do a lot of power moves and really use my size to my advantage to dominate my opponent.

LS: What moves are you best known for?
CS: The Bridging Crossface, it’s my finisher...a submission move that there’s no way of reversing, so the poor unfortunate girl has no choice but to tap. And also a Top Rope Cross Body.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
CS: I injured my knee last year in a match from doing my crossbody and slipped my kneecap, and I’m still undergoing physio for that now. Plus the usual bumps and bruises.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
CS: Lisa Fury so far, but she’s also my favorite opponent.

LS: Who are your allies?
CS: My allies are my faction, Jimmy Blade, Assassin and Nick Dammocles...the Synndicate. I don’t have women allies...I don’t trust them, and not one girl has proven she’s worthy to stand in the ring side by side with me. Because it’s not just about kicking ass, it’s about looking hot while you do it.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
CS: Probably over Lisa Fury in a mixed tag in Italy . I had over a thousand people chanting my name, and the reaction I got when I got the pin was amazing!

LS: What was your worst loss?
CS: To Rebecca Knox at “Ladies Night ‘04” in Newcastle . She’s a very talented girl and it’s a shame to hear about her injury. [Note: Rebecca was recently severely injured in a match, and will be sidelined for the next several months as she recovers.]

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven’t yet?
CS: Sweet Saraya, because she’s a British legend and an amazing wrestler.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
CS: I LOVE intergender tags purely because I like to mix it up with the boys as well, and I can give as good as I get and hold my own with them because of my size.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
CS: Usually I get "Reeeeally? You don’t look like one!"

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
CS: Its been my dream to be a wrestler since I was 13, and nothing can beat the feeling of having everyone chanting your name, or having people come up to you after a show and ask for your autograph. Just the atmosphere as well when you’re in the ring, and having everyone either hate your guts or willing you to win by cheering you on...it’s the best feeling in the world!

LS: What are your fans like?
CS: Mostly guys, and the occasional weirdo. I’ve had some pretty funny requests on MySpace for pictures of my feet and underwear, and some guy in prison who swears he’s gonna come to a show when he gets out! I get a lot of horny teenage boys asking for my phone number, but on the whole they’re usually pretty cool and respectful, and I’ve had a few little kids telling me they wanted to be like me when they grow up, which I thought was really sweet.

LS: What is the one thing you would most like to change about the sport?
CS: The perception of woman. A lot of fans couldn’t give a shit about wrestling, they just wanna see sexy girls running around in as least clothes as possible. And it’s a shame, because there’s a lot of really good females out there right now who don’t get the opportunity to get booked elsewhere because they don’t have a particular "look."

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
CS: Ditch all the diva crap. I admit I have done it, and once in a while it’s really fun to do, but it does give people the wrong idea about women’s wrestling. Plus, a lot of the girls doing this type of stuff aren’t trained wrestlers, and it would be good if they could bump and do more stuff than slap and pull hair while rolling around.

LS: Where have you wrestled?
CS: I’ve wrestled in Italy for NWE, Holland for PWH, valeted in Germany for wXw, and in Britain I’ve worked in WZW, IWF, BCW, WWP, MEW and for Pippa L’Vinn on her all-girl shows. I hope I get a chance to wrestle at one of Pippa's shows again... or wrestle Pippa herself for that matter.

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport?
CS: Probably getting DDT'd out of my dress and falling out on a show. I don’t think I can ever live that down!

LS: Any regrets?
CS: None. I’ve loved every second of being in this business. I’m glad I’ve been given so many opportunities and that I’ve taken them and had the time of my life doing it. Well...the only slight regret is not wearing “tit tape” on the incident mentioned above!

LS: What would you do if you couldn’t be in wrestling?
CS: I couldn’t imagine not being around the business, but I would probably have continued working with horses and show jumping.

LS: What is your personal motto?
CS: "’Cos looking this good is a Synn!"

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
CS: To wrestle full time and work in the States.

LS: Anything else you’d like to add?
CS: Feel free to leave me messages on myspace.com/misscourtneysynn...I love getting them and will try my best to reply.
