LADYSPORTS: Welcome to LadySports, Sweet Nancy! When did you first become interested in pro wrestling?
SWEET NANCY: Since I was little, because my dad took me to the theaters to see the matches.

LS: Who have been your biggest ongoing inspirations to be a wrestler?
SN: Puerto Rico’s most famous wrestler, the Tigress... she was my inspiration to enter this rough sport.

LS: What are you like in the ring, personality-wise?
SN: Whatever I do, I like to call attention to myself, and to earn the respect of the fans.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
SN: I get up at 5:00 AM to work... I’m a teacher. After leaving school I go to the gym to train, often working to develop new moves to defeat my opponents. It’s hard work, but for me, the most important part of training is in demonstrating your commitment to achieving your goals

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
SN: I’m a fighter with various styles, depending on which side I’m fighting on. Sometimes I’m a ruda, and I don’t hesitate to break the rules. But if I feel like being a technical worker some night, I’ll take to the air more. Either way, I’m very charismatic. My styles vary according to the side I’m on.

LS: What moves are you best known for?
SN: El Sweet Leg Drop.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
SN: In Puerto Rico it has been the Amazon Warrior.

LS: And who have been your biggest allies?
SN: In this sport there are no real allies... we only end up betraying them.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
SN: I have to memorable victories. The first was winning the Women’s World Championship of the International Wrestling Associates, and the second was winning the World Wrestling Council’s Women’s Championship.

LS: What was your worst loss?
SN: The worst loss came when I lost one of my titles to Genesis. I was angry with my manager and rude to him, and he helped Genesis to cheat and beat me, taking my belt.

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
SN: In Puerto Rico, my inspiration, the Tigress. In the United States, I would like to wrestle Mickie James someday.

LS: And if you had to retire tomorrow and could have only one more match, who would you most like to wrestle?
SN: With Mickie James.

LS: What is your favorite style of match?
SN: Working in the technical style.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
SN: In Puerto Rico, the women’s division is disappearing. What I would do is train more women. Too many promoters in Puerto Rico don’t believe in women’s wrestling, but if they are properly trained, women can show everyone that they can fight better than most men.

LS: Any regrets?
SN: Nooooooooooooooooo!

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
SN: What I’m already doing, working as a teacher, which I really like to do.

LS: What is your personal motto?
SN: She who perseveres... wins.

LS: Thanks for speaking with us, Nancy. Anything else you'd like to add?
SN: Women who are in this sport, I always tell them not to quit too soon. If they work hard, they will eventually go further than many of the men! Thank you so much for this interview... sorry my English isn’t so good!
