SUMMER’S HERE, AND THE TIME IS RIGHT…

By Shiai Mata

Fans have been asking the PGWA for several months now where Sensational Summer Rain has been. The Native American, who has been such a dominant figure as both wrestler and manager in the Southeastern United States, has not been seen in a ring since January.

Recently, Summer announced that she is returning to the squared circle this June…and that she has a score to settle. LadySports Online has the exclusive details of just what happened to Summer Rain!

The story actually beings quite some time before the events of this past January, with a group calling itself the Coven. This was an alliance of several wrestlers who embraced the darker sides of their souls. The Coven included Summer Rain, who adopted the title of the Sorceress, and she was joined by the Warlock (aka Norton Lewis), Manchild (Mortimer Grey), Vincent I. Pain, Scar Stevens, and a second woman, Destiny Devine. The Coven enjoyed great success right from the start, but all was not right within the confines of the group. As Summer puts it, “As usual when more than one woman in involved with a bunch of men, things did not stay harmonious for long.” Relations between the Sorceress and Destiny became strained, and things were not helped when Summer and Norton Lewis began to seriously reconsider dwelling in the spiritual darkness of the Coven. They finally made the decision to break with the group, and they emerged as ‘babyfaces’ who feuded with their former stable. The ring battles between Summer and Destiny were particularly brutal.

The Coven has since evolved into a group calling itself the Tortured Souls, but the heat between Summer Rain and Destiny Devine continued to burn unabated. “Our feud has taken us throughout the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, and even Illinois,” says Summer. “We’ve battled each other in singles matches, tag matches, mixed tags, catfights, and street fights.”

The two rivals again faced one another this past January. After an exhausting brawl, Summer managed to pin Destiny for the victory…but this triumph would come at a cruel price for the Native American. After the match, Destiny’s partner, Scar Stevens, entered the ring and attacked her from behind. Scar and Destiny both then brutalized the brunette for several agonizing minutes. That along was bad enough, but then her foes went for broke. As Summer bitterly recalls, “Scar applied a camel clutch-type of hold on me and refused to let go. Some referees rushed to the ring to try to help, but Destiny kept them at bay. Scar finally released the hold when the Lewis Brothers entered the ring on my behalf, but the damage had been done. I was stretchered out of the ring.” After undergoing a battery of medical exams, the doctors told Summer that the best she could hope for would be that she’d be out of wrestling for six months.

And that six months was up in June.

Sensational Summer is keeping mum as to what her specific plans are, but there can be no doubt in anyone’s mind that she is targeting Destiny Devine and Scar Stevens in her sights. We also wouldn’t be surprised it, when she finally gets Destiny back in the ring, Summer makes sure there’s a stretcher handy, because she’ll have plans for it and for Ms. Devine.

LadySports Online will provide more coverage of Sensational Summer Rain’s return to the ring as events unfold.
