Q & A WITH SASSY STEPHIE

SASSY AND MORE

by S. Mata

She'll tell you that she can be defined simply by the word 'Sassy'. But a few more which come to mind are stern, steely and superb. She began making a name for herself in Ohio literally from her first night in the ring, and now LadySports Online is proud to introduce her to wrestling fans world wide, just as the PGWA hosted her debut in Tennessee against her nemesis, Lexi Lane, on July the 14th.
And so, without further ado, we present to you... Sassy Stephie!

Ring Name: Sassy Stephie

Height: 5'3''

Weight: A true lady would never reveal her weight.

Hair: Long, straight black hair.

Hometown: Half Moon Bay, California

LS: When did you first get into the sport?
SS: August of 2005, I was asked to tryout as a ring announcer for a promotion I went to on a weekly basis, because I knew everyone, and I was a DJ at a local bowling alley so they knew I could work a crowd.

LS: Who trained you?
SS: "Big Gunns" Jeff Cannon

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
SS: Sensational Sherri, she has been a huge influence on me in all aspects of the business. I was crushed when I heard she passed away.

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
SS: I can play just about every sport, but with my work schedule and wrestling on the weekends I rarely have time to catch up on any other sports or play them.

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality, likes, dislikes, and strengths?
SS: Well, obviously... I'm sassy. That describes me well in one word.

LS: What are you favorite foods, music, clothes, cars?
SS: Chicken--- fixed almost any way. I love chicken! Music: I listen to everything. It really depends on my mood that day. I've seen everyone from Hanson to Manson in concert. Clothes: Whatever is most comfortable Car: MINE! It's an '06 Chevy Cobalt. I love it.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
SS: I do physical labor as one of my jobs, so I get a great workout at work. I do training in the ring on Wednesdays and Sundays. It's important in my workout to mix things up. I get bored easily--- I need variety!

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
SS: I'm more technical, but I think I can adapt to most styles pretty well.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
SS: OH, YES! Just a few weeks ago I sprained my knee. It hurt pretty bad. But I continued on in the match and did the best of my ability.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
SS: Everyone I have been put against has been tough in one way or another. But Lexi Lane always puts 110% into the matches and she can be hard to hold down.

LS: Who are your allies?
SS: I don't need any allies.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
SS: Beating Lexi Lane in a cathouse brawl.

LS: What was your worst loss?
SS: Jessicka Havoc. She beat me all over the ring, she had a huge height advantage on me and I tried my damnedest, but she was just way too hard to overcome.

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
SS: If I started listing names I'd be here for a couple of days.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
SS: The ones I win... obviously.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
SS: 'But you're so small." 'Isn't it fake?" "Do they script out everything?" "Really? Can you kick my ass?"--- usually from stupid guys.

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
SS: It's so different from other sports. The majority of it is about talent, but you have to have personality and charisma also. You have to be able to get the fans either with you or against you. You have to be able to tell a story. Which you don't have to do in other sports.

LS: What is the one thing you would most like to change about the sport?
SS: So many things, so little time... .

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
SS: I wouldn't want that kind of power. Because you always have critics. I may think I am improving the sport... but other people may disagree. You can never make everyone happy.

LS: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
SS: So far I have wrestled only in Ohio, but that is about to change! So far I don't have any titles, but I definitely see it happening in the future.

LS: What are your thoughts on women participating in the sport?
SS: It's great! But only if you have the passion and love for the business. Some women in the business are in it for their looks/bodies and they don't share the same passion I do... and I think that hurts the sport. However, if those ladies want to train and make themselves into wrestlers, I have respect for that.

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport?
SS: My first match. It was so surreal. The whole atmosphere was insane. All the way from the fans to the ladies in the back. It was a great experience. I learned a lot that night.

LS: Any regrets?
SS: Not so far.

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
SS: I'd still be attending shows.

LS: What is your personal motto?
SS: Don't let anyone stand in my way of my dreams. My dreams are huge and if I let someone/something stand in my way, who knows what I could have done... and I don't ever want to look back in my life and say "what if... "

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
SS: Continuing with wrestling until I can no longer do it. This is my passion.

LS: Anything else you'd like to add?
SS: Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of LadySports.
