WHY NIKKI ROXX IS SAYING: “I WON’T LET YOU DOWN!"

The Champion in Her Own Words

by Nikki Roxx

On April 23, 2005 I won the Professional Girl Wrestling Association’s Championship Belt. I won the title from Pippa L’Vinn, the woman who had beaten the legendary Leilani Kai for the belt, and who had defended it for over two years against some truly outstanding wrestlers.

I’m sure this isn’t anything you PGWA fans don’t already know, but I figured a little refresher was in order anyway, just as a reminder.

OK, so it’s been about a month and a half since I won the championship. And yes, I have yet to put the title on the line. And I know I declared myself the ‘Fighting Champion’ when I won the belt, but believe me, I’m not ducking from the competition! I mean, it’s not like I’ve just been staying at home, lounging on the sofa and watching cartoons (and anyone who knows me knows that is what I love to do best!).

I take being the Champion very seriously, and when I do step into the ring to defend my belt, I want to be at my absolute best. This title…and the fans…deserve nothing less.

Since winning the title, I have been more active in the gym than ever! I work out six days a week, and train in the ring three of those days as well. And every weekend since winning the belt, I have been working. It seems that since becoming the champ, every promotion wants to use me! So I’ve been traveling not only to different states, but also back down to Mexico for the LLF.

You see, to me, earning a shot at the champion was great in and of itself. Actually winning the championship was amazing! I remember how ready Pippa was for our match; she was in great condition and ready to go! I think that’s the way you need to be, that’s how you have to be if you have any hope of keeping the belt. That’s how I want to be when I defend this title…which will be soon, believe me!

Just saying “I’m the Champ” isn’t enough. You have to train. You have to push yourself to your peak. You have to watch your back and be ready for anything. I have what many women are striving for right now…I have the gold (or the white and purple in this case!). I have to prove I am worthy enough to be the holder of this great championship title. I plan to make everyone realize that I am worthy enough and tough enough to be the Champion, to walk in the footsteps of Susan Green, Judy Martin, Riptide, Lexie Fyfe, Leilani Kai and, yes, Pippa L’Vinn.

I know a lot of you might think that once a wrestler wins a championship it’s all easy sailing from there. But the truth is, now is the time when you have to work your hardest. You have a world full of women looking for what you have. You have to be ready, willing and able to take them on. I think I am ready. I’m more than willing, and I’ll definitely be able to prove why I am the PGWA Champion!

Thanks to everyone for your support, and I promise not to let you guys down!

Kisses!
