PIPPA KICKS OFF THE HOLIDAY SEASON!

Saturday December 4th - Manchester, England

Pippa L'Vinn vs Awesome Anne

Pippa L'Vinn hosted her first annual Christmas Wrestling Event on December the 4th, in Manchester, England. Following in the wake of her hugely successful "Blackpool Rocks!" live card several months ago, excitement among fans was high as the date of this new event neared. A kink was thrown into weeks of preparations when, at literally the last minute, a change in venues was made necessary. But fans who were familiar with the originally announced site reported after the fact that they were pleased with the change, as the Imperial Club proved to be even better suited for hosting matches. And as to the matches themselves, more than a few spectators described the action as "Brilliant!".

The event featured some of the finest professional and amateur wrestlers in the British Isles. Fans were rewarded for their support with action-packed bouts between Sue Scarlett and newcomer WildCat, Angel versus Courtney, and Shelby Beach against Jodie Lee; this last battle was a rematch from the previous card, and it ended disappointingly for Beach when she was disqualified. Suffice to say, the powerful blond is hoping for a third match against the legendary Jodie, and soon.

Shelby was also featured in a Mixed Match, teaming with Mad Dog Wilson against her perpetual nemesis, Pippa, who was paired with the Iron Duke. Beach enjoyed more satisfaction in this bout than she did in her match against Jodie Lee, as she and Mad Dog claimed the hard-fought victory!

Awesome Anne, making her return to wrestling following a sabbatical in which she was called to active duty in the British Army in support of troops in Iraq, jumped back into the sport with both feet, accepting two matches! First, she battled WildCat, and the blond proved she hadn't lost a bit of skill and power since she last fought.

But what really had the fans at the Imperial Club as well as fans worldwide abuzz was Anne's challenge to Pippa for the PGWA Championship!

The two women faced one another in a Best of Three Falls confrontation which ran over twenty minutes. Both wrestlers came into this match following recovery from serious injuries, with Anne having suffered a severe knee injury that required surgery, and Pippa endured neck and arm damage which threatened to end her career. Each woman knew about the other's weak spot, and both made a point of focusing on them.

Anne took the first fall with a big splash and pin to the smaller L'Vinn, using her greater size to its fullest advantage. The second fall had Pippa getting a neutralizing submission with the application of the Texas Cloverleaf to her opponent; L'Vinn's previous tours of American rings and extensive experience against US wrestlers allowed her to employ several holds which Anne had never faced before.

The champ knew that she could afford no mistakes if she wanted to retain her belt. Formulating her strategy for winning the third and final fall, Pippa wanted to weaken Anne's knee, and certainly did her best to keep the blond on the mat and working on her knee. But Anne rallied back and had triumph in her grasp, following a huge airplane spin and a slam that sent L'Vinn sailing across the ring. But even as the blond moved in for the kill, Pippa managed to gather her wits enough to snare her opponent in a small package, holding her to the mat just long enough for the referee to count to three!

A narrow victory to be sure, but a victory nonetheless, and L'Vinn left the ring with the PGWA strap firmly around her waist once more.

In addition, there was special highlight...a very fine demonstration of magnificently sculpted muscle by one of the UK's top bodybuilders, Storm.
