LADYSPORTS: Welcome to LadySports, Nikki! When did you first get into the sport?
NIKKI STORM: I watched it when I was 10 and watched it ever since. When I was 18, I found a wrestling school in Glasgow, The Scottish Wrestling Alliance. I'm still training at the school. It's open 24/7 and located in City Gym, Pollokshaws. Fantastic facilities and fully equipped with a wrestling ring.

LS: Who trained you?
NS: Damian O'Conner mainly, who owns the Scottish Wrestling Alliance training school. And I have attended seminars by Paul Tracey, Johnny Moss, Fergal Devitt, Fit Finlay, Robbie Brookside, Jack Gallagher and Johnny Kidd. In the last year, since Mikey Whiplash began also taking training at the SWA school, he has been a really great help and happy to give advice.

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
NS: I wanted to entertain, tell a story. I loved the athleticism.

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
NS: I was a dancer for over a decade, and also part of the Glasgow University Cheerleaders, so I like them and gymnastics. I like watching boxing from time to time. My dad was a boxer.

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality, likes, dislikes, and strengths?
NS: You don't mess with Nikki Storm, in and out of the ring. I have a short fuse and I'm very grumpy, especially if I have not had any coffee. At the same time I am quite assertive and professional, I like to get things done. I like honest people who don't try and feed me any crap. My strength is my personality and I am always willing to learn something new or practice my fundamental skills. I'm not afraid of hard work.

LS: What is your most marked characteristic as a wrestler?
NS: My aggression.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
NS: I enjoy a mix of things as I get bored easily. So I’ll do body weight conditioning like push-ups and squats. I like working out and improving my CV with spin classes and skipping. I like big compound movements if I'm weight lifting like deadlifts and bench press. Massive fan of yoga and Pilates.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
NS: Hybrid of American and British. That being said, I'm very adaptable.

LS: What moves are you best known for?
NS: Neck breakers. A lot of my offence and submissions are focused on my opponent’s neck.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
NS: Yeah, I have broken my right hand, sprained ankles a couple times, broke my left pinky finger. I broke my nose and been busted open above the eye. Part of the business, you just get on with it.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
NS: Joshi veteran and a fantastic wrestler…Emi Sakura, who I defeated for the Pro Wrestling EVE championship in February of 2013!

LS: Who are your allies?
NS: When you are this good, you don't need any.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
NS: Over Alpha Female, at Pro Wrestling EVE's November, 2012 iPPV event, ‘Wrestlefever’. The emotion…the aggression…the chaos of the match really stands out to me.

LS: What was your worst loss?
NS: Losing the PWE championship to Emi Sakura after winning it from Alpha Female at 'Wrestlefever'... on the same night!

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
NS: Jenny Sjödin.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
NS: Singles match.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
NS: Most people look confused or interested. Sometimes both!

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
NS: The buzz you get from the crowd, taking people on a roller coaster.

LS: What are your fans like?
NS: Most of them are wonderful and I appreciate their support. Some fans have been not so great. Some have become nuisances and constantly e-mail/private Facebook message me. Some of them have really said some sleazy stuff which I find totally inappropriate. But my genuine fans, yeah…they are great, so I am grateful for them. You take the good with the bad.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
NS: The business feels very over-saturated at moment, so perhaps cut down the amount of companies.

LS: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
NS: All over the UK. I currently hold the Pro Wrestling EVE championship. For two years I held the W3L Women's Championship and was the first-ever Scottish SSW Women's Champion.

LS: What are your thoughts on women participating in the sport?
NS: Definitely for it. If I did not agree with it, I would not be here. I think a show is more intriguing if girls are involved.

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport?
NS: Participating on an all-female iPPV for Pro Wrestling EVE at ‘Wrestlefever, and their February, 2012 event, ‘No Man’s Land’, were both very special. Debuting in front of 2,000 fans at the 2008 Scottish Wrestling Alliance super show, ‘The Gathering’, at Kelvin Hall in Glasgow was an incredible feeling, also.

LS: Any regrets?
NS: Nope, every mistake I have made, I have learned from. Without those mistakes, I would not be the same person.

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
NS: Well, I am also a fitness instructor and personal trainer, so if I did not wrestle, I would continue doing that.

LS: What is your personal motto?
NS: Everything happens for a reason.

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
NS: Right now, I'm very happy with my life so I would not want to do anything to ruin that. Anything I do after now, needs to be right for me, and maintain my happiness or supplement it.

LS: Anything else you'd like to add?
NS: Follow me on twitter @NikkiStorm1, and check out my website on nikkistorm.com.
