The proverbial glass slipper fit for Adelia Garcia in the Fitness International
and for Nicole Wilkins-Lee in the Figure International as they both captured the
top prize in their respective contests at the annual Arnold Classic held on
March 5th in Columbus, Ohio at the Veterans Auditorium.
Ms Garcia was born in 1971 in Cabrera, Dominican Republic and raised in San
Juan, Puerto Rico. Currently standing 5'5 and at a contest weight of 126lbs, she
began weight training at the age of 17 to gain strength in volleyball,
basketball, and softball.
Few were surprised to learn that she won the title--which now makes her a 3x
Champion, to go along with her four titles at the Ms Olympia. Hometown girl
Julie Palmer placed second, narrowly beating out Tanji Johnson at 3rd. Trish
Warren was 4th, while Oksana Grishina and Camala Rodriquez took 5th and 6th
respectively.
Sterling Heights, Michigan is the hometown for Fitness International winner Ms
Wilkins-Lee. Born in 1984, she carries 144 curvy pounds on a 5' 7" frame. An
aspiring gymnast for most of her life, she competed in the Arnold Classic in
gymnastics during her high school Senior year...that evening she went to see
the Fitness Finals, and fell in love with the competition. At just 26 years old,
great things are ahead for Nicole , as she also won the Miss Figure Olympia
last September.
Second place went to Erin Stern, who was in only her second year of competition.
Heather Mae French took 3rd, while rookie Mindi Smith claimed 4th place.
Felicia Romero and Larissa Reis took 5th and 6th respectively.
