Pippa L'Vinn's Manchester Rocks !

SHOW REPORT:

Saturday 25 April 2009 - Live from The Wrestling Factory

by Mark Lockey

An enthusiastic audience were treated to a spectacular day's entertainment with 15 lady
wrestlers appearing, probably the largest ever gathering in the UK in one venue.

This event celebrated 5 Years of Shows since the inaugural Blackpool Rocks from 2004.

The show commenced with a nice touch harking back to the first show, every wrestler entered
the ring and received their introduction from the MC, each lady receiving lively applause.

The first contest was a Pro Style Match : April who debuted at the previous event,
Armageddon, took on Lucy Clayden. Lucy was her usual bubbly, sporting and respectful self,
always a favourite with the crowd.

April, her smaller opponent, wore a custom made swimsuit with her name standing out in
white lettering. She looked as though she could be somewhat overpowered by the taller Lucy.

This was certainly not the case as April took the match to Lucy, mixing it up with a variety
of holds and moves.

A lively and fast paced opener resulted in a closely fought contest.

Next up, another Pro Match : Miss E - another newcomer - vs Stephanie Cooper.

Miss E strutted to the ring with bags of attitude, working the crowd up.

Her opponent Stephanie was a particular favourite with this audience, receiving much
encouragement from the majority of the onlookers.

A pin within the 10 minute time limit brought the bout to a conclusion.

The following contest was a Tag Team Mat Based Match : Sue Scarlett & Suzi opposed Dynamo & Linx.

The greater experience of mat based combat was certainly with Sue as she locked up with Dynamo.
However, Dynamo's strength is very impressive and she was not overawed by Ms Scarlett.

The four combatants were well matched with the lively Linx adding to Dynamo's outstanding
resilience when faced with potential pins.

A Pro style match next with the blonde bombshell Shelby Beach facing newcomer, Jenny Sjödin
from Sweden.

Shelby greeted each and every member of the crowd before entering the ring to massive applause.

Jenny looked fierce and determined. She had every right to be as she applied some great holds
and lock ups to start the bout. Shelby retaliated well and soon began to bounce back into the
match. A brilliant encounter with an eventual submission brought this real test of strength to a
close. Jenny Sjödin was a very impressive performer.

She is scheduled to appear in Ireland shortly before going back to her home county.

We eagerly await her return to these shores.

The first appearance of the day for Roxi next, in a Pro Match vs Miss E who, continued where
she left off with lots of crowd banter.

A very close contest was settled by a pinfall.

Next, a Mixed Tag match, Pro Style: newcomer Tiffany and Jack Toxic faced up against April
and Flyin' Brian.

Tiffany in a very pretty pink skirt and black top combo with her partner Jack in bright
green tights.

Their opponents wore more traditional wrestling attire, April again in her Royal blue
swimsuit and Brian in red trunks.

Tiffany and Jack were the heels in this one, with a very vocal performance from Jack.

A pin settled this encounter, just within the 10 minute duration.

The following contest was a unique first : A blindfold mat based match!

Pippa L'Vinn emerged from the changing rooms in a skin tight with bikini - simply stunning!

Her opponent was Sue Scarlett who also looked fantastic in her silver two piece costume.

The referee blindfolded both ladies before the bell rung for the beginning of the match...
both had to feel around to "find" their opponent, occasionally with directions shouted out from
the crowd. The lack of vision for both only added to the tension and enjoyment as some superb holds
were applied by both Pippa & Sue, knowing each other so well from many previous battles.

This match could have gone on and on for me as it contained everything you could wish for,
intense strength and a real battle of wills....Fantastic stuff!!!!

2 newcomers returned to the ring for the next Pro Match. Tiffany took on Stephanie...
similarly matched in size and stature, these pretty brunettes gave us another solid and
enthusiastic display.

A handicap Mat based match followed with Roxi partnering Dynamo to oppose Layla.

One would think that the 2 girls would have the edge over Layla, being able to exchange roles
with Layla having to fight continuously.

However, Layla is incredibly well versed in this style of combat and was able to deal with
everything that the duo threw at her.

The final Pro style match was one to savour. Baroness Simone making her first appearance of
the day against the returning Jenny Sjödin.

This intense struggle was a superb match with both girls giving their all in this 15 minute
duration contest. Jenny, again impressed with her style against Simone who always puts on a
top notch performance...one of the best matches of the day resulted in a narrow victory.

The Main Event was a Rumble with wrestlers in order of appearance: Pippa L'Vinn, Lucy Clayden,
Tiffany, Roxi, April, Miss E, Stephanie Cooper, Shelby Beach , Flying Bryan and Jack Toxic.

A very excting finale to an incredible show with a twist ending......

Summary:
Yet another top class day's entertainment, up there with the best of previous shows.

Manchester Rocks was a worthy anniversary event.

The wrestling was of the very highest standard with Pro, Mat based and Mixed matches to
suit every possible taste.

The audience today were treated to a display in which everyone worked tirelessly to provide
such superb wrestling.

Pippa L'Vinn has again worked so hard to organise and produce another top notch event...
As always, new girls have been able to disply their talents to an appreciative audience.

MANY THANKS TO ALL THE WRESTLERS, MC, REFEREE AND PIPPA'S TEAM WHO ALWAYS WORK SO HARD
BEHIND THE SCENES TO HELP MAKE THINGS RUN SO SMOOTHLY.
