LadySports ::: LLF Luchadoras...

Q & A: TSUNAMI

by Roberto de J Figueroa S

Much like her ring name, Tsunami has hit Lucha Libre Femenil with devastating fury! She looks to have a lock on being named the LLF Rookie of the Year, and she definitely has her eye on some of the league's championship gold.

I have known Tsunami since she was four years old, and she has always been a tremendous fan of wrestling. Even as a girl, she used to study tapes of wrestling matches, trying to learn from them. When she finally went to training school, she threw herself into her work. As a result, unlike a lot of rookies, she is very expert at many moves and finishers, making her quite formidable in the ring. With a little more experience, I think she will have the ability to win any title in the LLF.

She is good personal friends with Ayako Hamada, Faby Apache and Linda Star, and has said more than once that a dream of hers is to form a team with them. Without a doubt, such a quartet would be a dominant force in Mexico!

Although she's been in the sport as a competitor for only a short while, she has already made a very powerful rival. LLF diva Diana la Cazadora seems to developed some very jealous feelings toward Tsunami. She was definitely not happy when she was relegated to semi-main event status recently while the rookie headlined shows. Last week, an angry Diana seized a microphone and announced that, after Tsunami gets her next scheduled match against Ariel over with, la Cazadora wants her in the ring...and that she intends to put a halt to the newcomers meteoric rise!

Now, in a LadySports exclusive, here is Tsunami in her own words!

Q: When did you make your debut?
A: March 18th, 2005

Q: Who trained you?
A: Chuy Escobedo and his son. I was the only woman in the school, so I had to train against men.

Q: Why have you gone into wrestling?
A: In wrestling, women can show that they're every bit as good as men...and maybe these days we are even better.

Q: How did you choose your ring name?
A: My wrestling teacher said that I am not afraid of anything or anyone, that I am tough like a tsunami. So there you have it.

Q: How have the fans reacted to you?
A: I think that they like my work in the ring. They also seem to really like my outfit and my mask.

Q: What has been your best match to date?
A: Chacala and me against Nikki Roxx and Ariel at the Arena Femenil Monterrey on Friday, May the 6th.

Q: Who are some of your favorite wrestlers?
A: Blue Demon, Hijo Santo, and Kane from the WWE. Among females, my favorites are Ayako Hamada, Xochitl Hamada, and Lola Gonzalez.

Q: You've chosen to begin your career in the LLF. What are your thoughts about the organization?
A: It's an excellent company. They support me, giving me work each week against good opponents. I can't thank owner Lic Luciano Garcia enough for believing in me and in my work. I hope he continues to give me this kind of push in the future, and I think he will.

Q: What's next for you?
A: I plan to beat Ariel for her GLORY championship. The next step up the ladder after that will be to take the PGWA title from Nikki Roxx. And finally, I will claim the LLF crown! And Diana la Cazadora can try all she likes, but she won't be stopping me.

Q: What is wrestling to you?
A: It's my life. It's everything to me since I was a little girl, when I used to go to the arena to see the shows with my family. And now that I am a wrestler, I want to learn all I can to be one of the greatest in the sport.

Q: Anything else you'd like to say to the fans?
A: Thanks to all of the people reading this and taking an interest in me, and thank you very much to the many fans who come out to see the LLF shows every Friday. Keep your eyes on me, because I have big plans!
