Q & A: LILLIE MAE

"A woman can do anything a man can do... especially in wrestling!"

Lillie Mae, a two-fisted scrapper from down Texas way, says she proud to be country... which means she’s not afraid to say her piece and stand up for what she believes in. And if standing up sometimes means knocking the other person down, well... she’s not against that any!

Please welcome LadySports Online in presenting Lillie Mae to wrestling fans the world over in this exclusive new interview!

THE STATS:

Name: Lillie Mae

Height: 5’5"

Weight: 135 lb.

Hair: Blonde

Hometown: Moody, Texas

LADYSPORTS: Welcome, Lillie Mae. Tell us, what was your biggest influence to become a wrestler? LILLIE MAE: I have loved wrestling since I was a small child. My father and I went to local indy shows, and as soon as I was presented with the opportunity, I took it.

LS: When did you first get into the sport?
LM: September 27th, 2008.

LS: And who trained you?
LM: Hernandez presented me with an opportunity to work with some of the best veterans in the business, including Bigg Dogg, who is a graduate of the Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy, and Keith Lee, who was trained by Killer Tim Brooks. I have participated in clinics with Les Thatcher, as well as Ray the Voice, who was a foreman at the Shawn Michaels Academy.

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
LM: Softball, baseball, and football

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality, likes, dislikes, and strengths?
LM: As far as my attitude goes, I always have a go-getter attitude. I am so hungry for knowledge and positive attitudes will get you farther than anything. Personality? I am a carefree, fun-loving person. I always want to entertain people, and I am one of the silliest people you will EVER meet. Likes? I love anything outdoors: Hiking, swimming, camping... there goes the county side of me coming out. I love silly movies, but most of all I love watching old AWA tapes. And dislikes? There really isn’t much I don’t like... except negative attitudes, and people who know-it-all. In this industry, if you aren’t always willing to learn, you will not get very far.

LS: What is your most marked characteristic as a wrestler?
LM: My country style... no one does that, but it is a continuation of who I really am.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
LM: I start with a two mile run. Cardio is very important to me, then I move on to conditioning... pushups, crunches, squats and chain wrestling. Then I finish up with grappling and blow-up drills.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
LM: Strong style.

LS: What moves are you best known for?
LM: Flying Headscissors, Insiguri, Reverse DDT.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
LM: I bit entirely through my lip from a drop kick into the mat!

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
LM: Andy Dalton. Just because I am a female, he didn’t give me any slack. He actually treated me just like he would have treated a man in the ring.

LS: Who are your allies?
LM: Bubba Dumplins

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
LM: My Loser Leaves Match. It was my first match, and I won by the skin of my teeth! I was literally in tears by the time the match was over because I couldn’t believe I beat a guy so much bigger than me

LS: What was your worst loss?
LM: I would hands-down say... Pink. She blindsided me and proceeded to beat me all over the arena. After the match was complete, we fought until the security had to pull us apart, then she gave me the worst chair shot I have ever seen!

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
LM: Simply Luscious.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
LM: I enjoy doing something comedic, as long as it gets to the point after the funny stuff is over.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
LM: "We would hate to mess with you!", "What makes you want to do that?", "Can I have your autograph?" (that is the funny one), "You are crazy!", "Is it real or fake?", stuff like that.

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
LM: I have always viewed women as strong and independent. I believe a woman can excel in anything she puts her mind to

LS: What are your fans like?
LM: Fun-loving, hard core wrestling fans who love to see that a woman can really work.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
LM: More advertisement and promotion.

LS: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
LM: I have wrestled for New School Federation in Temple, Texas... River City Wrestling in San Antonio... Warriors for Christ Wrestling in San Antonio... and participated in Gulf Coast Wrestling Alliance in Corpus Christi, Texas.

LS: What are your thoughts on women participating in the sport?
LM: A woman can do anything a man can do... especially in wrestling!

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport?
LM: The way I feel when I am standing behind the curtain getting ready to go out.

LS: Any regrets?
LM: NONE AT ALL!

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
LM: I would be a nurse.

LS: What is your personal motto?
LM: Don’t regret anything you have done, because at one time it was exactly what you wanted.

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
LM: Wrestling, my friends, and family.

LS: Anything else you'd like to add?
LM: I would like to thank all the people that helped me along the way. Ray the Voice has been there for me from the start, and all of the people that have worked beside me to help enhance my career!
