HOT AUGUST NIGHT

On August 28th, the PGWA in association with the AIWF, also headquartered out of North Carolina, presented a wrestling card that showcased some outstanding match-ups which both featured highly respected established talent as well as introducing some new blood to the sport. Longtime fans are well aware of the PGWA's tradition of discovering and spotlighting exciting newcomers to the squared circle. On a hot and muggy Southern summer night, there was electricity in the air...literally! A thunderstorm roared through the area which only added to the night's excitement. The card was split between the PGWA and the AIWF, four matches apiece. The results of 4 PGWA matches were: A mixed match that featured a masked heavyweight by the name of TUFF CUSTOMER taking on the mysterious gothic woman known only as PAGAN, who continually rattled her opponent's nerves throughout the match. This wasn't a fast-paced match, but rather a methodical struggle between two powerful competitors. Tuff Customer found himself thwarted time and again against his 5'11" opponent, and she had him screaming in pain many times throughout the match. Indeed, just about the only thing which Tuff Customer could do was prevent Pagan from unmasking him! Next, VENUS from Austin, Texas faced ZIP from Pensacola, Florida in what proved to be a challenge for both these gals to prove mat supremacy. The two got the fans' attention in the first minute of the match through their display of ring skills, and they won the fans' respect by match's end by their astonishing exhibition of talent. PGWA fans know Venus well as the 2003 Rookie of the Year, but Zip also proved herself to be one of the most intriguing young newcomers in wrestling! DIXIE from Mobile, Alabama had her hands full with Providence, Rhode Island's SARAH SULLIVAN. Sullivan, who has been training for the past year, has already proven herself to be very dedicated to the sport. And with only with a half-dozen or so matches under her belt so far, Sarah gave the feisty Dixie a very challenging battle. These two were matched up perfectly with height and weight in a match that turned out to be a wonderful semi-main event between two very talented and pretty wrestlers. The main event pitted former PGWA champ and NWA legend, SUSAN GREEN up against NIKKI ROXX. You won't believe the ability Roxx has! She has to be the most underrated wrestler on the circuit today. The veteran Texas Cowgirl gave her everything she had, but Nikki took her to her limits. The fans were amazed by their fight, and they cheered throughout the match. Green has fought some of the best in the world, and it takes a lot to earn her respect, but it's obvious from Susan's post-match interview that Nikki has indeed impressed her. If you were to evaluate any matches this year, this one would have to be in contention as one of the very best!
