LADYSPORTS SPOTLIGHT: HEIDI LOVELACE

Q & A: HEIDI LOVELACE

Indiana may not be often considered a major hotspot in pro wrestling history, but the
Hoosier state has given the sport such legends as Dick the Bruiser, Mick Foley and
(believe it or not) Dory Funk, Sr. and his sons, Dory, Jr. and Terry. And of course,
fans today will find many wrestling organizations thriving across Indiana.

One of the rising homegrown stars they may see is Heidi Lovelace, who in a remarkably
short span of time has garnered a great deal of positive attention for herself.
She is clearly a wrestler to be reckoned with, and LadySports is proud to help
introduce her to new fans worldwide!

LADYSPORTS: Welcome to LadySports, Heidi! Tell us, when did you first get into the sport?
HEIDI LOVELACE: I started "training" in July of 2010 with some people I knew back home but I started training officially in January 2012.

LS: And who trained you?
HL: "The King of Indiana" Billy Roc.

LS: Who have been your biggest inspirations to be a wrestler?
HL: Watching Steamboat, Morton and Flair while in training was definitely a huge inspiration!

LS: What are you like in the ring, personality-wise?
HL: I love being the underdog…I don't look like much, but I can hold my own!

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
HL: Typical day is, gym once a day and TRY to eat as healthy as humanly possible. Cardio is the most important thing that I have to get in. I get blown up so fast!

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
HL: Hmm...I would say more of a fast paced lucha style. At least, that's what I shoot for. Haha!

LS: Who has been your toughest opponent to date?
HL: Oh that's tough. I would have to say Lei'D Tapa. She threw me around like a ragdoll!

LS: And who have been your biggest allies?
HL: I would say, throughout everything, I have to stick with my trainer Billy Roc. He has always had my back.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
HL: It was actually recently, I advanced into the second round of La Copa Idolo for Wrestling is Heart after defeating Tripp Cassidy.

LS: And how about your worst loss?
HL: Hmm…I don't know if it’s the worst, because we hugged it out afterwards, but when Saturyne and I lost to AC/DC in the Chikara Tag World Grand Prix it was quite bittersweet.

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
HL:I have quite a few of those on my bucket list, but if I had to narrow it down to two it would be Lufisto or Serena Deeb, both I would be honored to step in the ring with.

LS: And if you had to retire tomorrow and could have only one more match, who would you most like to wrestle?
HL: I know I keep going back to him but I would want my retirement match to be with Billy Roc, he's the one who brought me in and to the business AND we've never had a singles match. Haha!

LS: What is your favorite style of match?
HL: Any match that tells a great story, that pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn't let you go until the finish.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
HL: Yes, in December of 2012 I damaged my LCL and was out for a month, and had to do physical therapy.

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
HL: I would change the outlook on most women’s wrestling. There are a lot of places that are still very old school about how women’s wrestling should be portrayed, but I know plenty of women that can run circles around most men.

LS: Any other sports you enjoy?
HL: FOOTBALL!

LS: Any regrets?
HL: I try to live my life and career without regrets, no matter what I've done or what I've been through. It’s made me what I am today.

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
HL: Honestly I would love to be a teacher for special education. My mother works in that field and I love visiting her class.

LS: Can you tell us what the one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting out in the sport would be?
HL: I would tell them to work hard and to never be too proud to ask questions and get advice. You will gain nothing but knowledge, wisdom and respect by doing so.

LS: What is your personal motto?
HL: The only way to get better is to surround yourself with better people.

LS: And lastly, anything else you'd like to add?
HL: Just keep a lookout for me, I'm coming up fast! Oh, and for updates on my upcoming shows, follow me on Facebook or twitter @vintageheidi.

LS: Thanks so much for speaking with us, Heidi!
HL: Thanks for having me. Much love, you guys!
