LADYSPORTS: Lisa, welcome to LadySports! When did you first get into the sport?
LISA FURY: I contacted All Star Wrestling when I was still in school and got told to go away and learn the basics! After two years of jiu jitsu I went back to All Star and was a valet for Robbie Brookside, who then took me under his wing and trained me how to wrestle. Later on, World of Sport wrestler Jeff Kaye gave me training as well.

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
LF: My Granddad was a professional wrestler in the 1950s and 60s, which inspired me to wrestle. However I was a massive fan of wrestling as a child and always wanted to become a wrestler.

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
LF: I've recently started to get into yoga. I also enjoy lifting weights and walking my dog.

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality, likes, dislikes, and strengths?
LF: I've got an optimistic personality and I am very positive and excitable. I love to laugh!

LS: What is your most marked characteristic as a wrestler?
LF: Probably my Liverpool accent. Or my in-ring cheating....

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
LF: I love to be outdoors and walk my dog daily. I hate cardio and have to force myself to do it. I'm much happier doing core exercises and weights.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
LF: I like to use technical moves and lots of old British style wrestling. With a bit of cheating thrown in!

LS: What moves are you best known for?
LF: Camel clutch, grovet, cravat.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
LF: Yes! I've broke my nose and tail bone.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
LF: Klondyke Kate has definitely been the toughest.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
LF: Any win at The Victoria Halls in Hanley is memorable, as it's my favourite place to wrestle. The atmosphere is always amazing there!

LS: What was your worst loss?
LF: Every loss is awful! (It doesn't happen often, though....)

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
LF: I've always wanted to wrestle Mitzi Mueller, but unfortunately she retired before I started wrestling.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
LF: I love mixed tag matches.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
LF: I don't usually tell people I'm a wrestler. When I do they are usually quite shocked.

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
LF: It's hard to say; Pro Wrestling is not like any other sport. I love the athleticism and the glitzy outfits! I am really thankful for having the opportunity to visit so many wonderful places around the world that I would not have ordinarily seen without wrestling.

LS: What are your fans like?
LF: I usually get booed, do I have any fans?! Ha!

LS: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
LF: All over Europe...UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland. Also, Russia and America. I won the European Ladies Championship in Bremen, Germany in 2007.

LS: What are your thoughts on women participating in the sport?
LF: I don't have any...women are no different to men participating.

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport?
LF: Probably getting the opportunity to travel all over Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. Italy is a beautiful country and I was very lucky to be able to experience the culture.

LS: Any regrets?
LF: Not personally no, I have had some great experiences over the last 11 years. My goal was to work for WWE but it was not meant to be. I gave it my all so I have nothing to regret.

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
LF: I'm currently studying for a language degree and I hope to live overseas in the future. I love animals, particularly dogs so maybe even open a rescue centre.

LS: What is your personal motto?
LF: To be happy!

LS: Anything else you'd like to add?
LF: I wish to thank everyone who has supported me throughout my wrestling career and thank everyone who has ever bought a ticket to see a wrestling show.
