FRUSTRATED AND FOILED Match results by Jimmie Daniel Plus, match analysis and a formal announcement from the PGWA. Brittany Love & Maria Montana vs. Susan Morton & Baroness Simone Millersville, TN June 16th, 2007 Susan hesitates to remove her robe, and there is much stalling as the ref tries to check the wrestlers. Susan rolls back out then back in to duck Maria and complain some more. Maria armbars Simone until she makes the ropes. Simone rolls on top and punches her for Two. Maria up with a headlock and takes Simone down to the mat. Simone reverses into a headscissors but Maria flips forward and out, then catapults Simone to the corner. Maria goes for a Boston crab but Simone is close enough to tag Susan. Maria rolls over to tag Brittany (which makes the crowd happy). Brittany and Susan trade armwrings, then Brittany hammerlocks until Susan makes the ropes and complains about tight pulling and the ever-louder chants for Brittany. Susan rolls out after being drop toeholded, then again after Brittany back elbows her. Brittany takes Susan over with a headlock until Susan hairpulls out, but Brittany lariats her for two, but they are too close to the ropes and once again Susan takes a lenghty break. Maria and Simone tag back in briefly, then both tag back out. Susan throws Brittany through the ropes so that Simone can stomp her while Maria is restrained by the ref. Back in, Brittany is hairpulled down by Susan, who then stands on her hair and pulls her up by the arms. Ref counsels Maria as Brittany is now getting double teamed in the wrong corner. Susan surfboards Brittany, then hairpulls her into a headscissors. Ref gets involved with the heels and misses a Brittany tag, which is disallowed. Simone chokes Brittany as Susan is on the floor pulling her hair. Brittany escapes and tags Maria, who rolls up Simone for the win 23:00. Regarding the Events of the 16th: To say that the PGWA tag team match held on the SAW card in Millersville, TN on Saturday the 16th of June was a disappointment is an understatement. On paper, it looked to be a rousing battle between Susan Morton and the Baroness Simone versus Maria Montana and Brittany Love. After all, there was more than enough animosity between these two teams to fuel a whole card’s worth of matches, not just one! How could it possibly go wrong? You‘d be surprised…. It was obvious from the very start, when she was so reluctant to even remove her ring robe and allow the referee to check her over, that Susan Morton’s goal this evening was to stall as much as possible…and her partner, Simone, followed suit. There would be the briefest of action in the ring, but Susan or Simone would quickly bring it to a halt by slipping out under the ropes, arguing with the ref, and turning their attention to the fans. This was a “wrestling” match very nearly in name only. We can only assume that Susan and Simone…two accomplished grapplers…were employing this strategy in order frustrate, discourage and confuse Maria and Brittany. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what it did to the spectators, too. The end result was not what we wanted or expected. And this match did not represent the caliber of action which the PGWA strives to bring the fans. In the wake of this match, the PGWA office issued the following press release: "The Professional Girl Wrestling Association is greatly disappointed by the tactics employed by Susan Morton and the Baroness Simone in their match against Maria Montana and Brittany Love. Susan and Simone, clearly, were employing intentional efforts to avoid locking up with their opponents whenever possible, and to run out the clock, rather than engage them in the wrestling match which they had contracted for. This is not the PGWA's idea of what a women's professional wrestling match should be, and fans may rest assured that appropriate measures will be taken against Susan Morton and the Baroness Simone as a result." We are mindful of the fact that Maria Montana remains as adamant as ever in her quest to get a ‘Street Fight’ with Susan Morton, and we may still consider negotiations to try and bring this about at some future date. Future developments will be reported at LadySports Online as they occur.
