Q & A: FALLEN ANGEL

by S. Mata

There was a time when a woman of Fallen Angel's physical size would have been dismissed as a mere wrestling novelty. Indeed, more than a few fans today might still feel that way. But one thing's for sure... they'd change their mind in a hurry once they saw this beauty in action!
Not surprisingly, she commands a lot of power, making her more than a match for a lot of women... not to mention many of the men she often faces in the ring. And she's not afraid to use that power, particularly in cages and in other hardcore situations. She's not called "The Suicide Messiah" for nothing, you know.
But here's the unexpected part... she's so much more than mere brute strength. This is a woman who not only commands an arsenal of technical moves, but who can fly off of the ropes like the nimblest of Luchadoras!
We're just happy that this angel fell into the LadySports Online hotseat, and that we can now introduce her to fans worldwide!

Ring Name: "The Suicide Messiah" Fallen Angel

Height: 5'6"

Weight: 240 lb.

Hair: It varies, but most of the time it is Pink

Hometown: Mt. Airy, North Carolina

LADYSPORTS: When did you first get into the sport?
FALLEN ANGEL: Eight years ago is when I started training, but I have always been a fan.

LS: Who trained you?
FA: The Master Assassin and T-Money

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
FA: It is something that I always wanted to do, and when I got the chance I just took it. There have been a lot of bumps in the road but it has all been worth it.

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
FA: MMA, I've started to do some training in that aspect as well.

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality and strengths?
FA: I always try to have a positive attitude about everything, even when things don't go right. I'm probably the most straight up person you will ever meet though, as far as my personality is concerned. Strengths would have to be I can take criticism well, I use what people say to make myself better, and when people put me down man I just overlook it.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
FA: I hit the gym four nights a week. It's paying off; I don't know too many females that can bench 225! I'm also in the ring training two nights a week as well. There is nothing more important for me than in-ring time, there is always room to improve and make yourself better.

LS: How would you best describe your ring style?
FA: I'm Old School; when you can get in the ring and out-work the guys, you earn respect from them. I can do it all, though... I can brawl, I can fly, and I have given my all to the "hardcore" style of wrestling as well.

LS: Did you base your ring style or even your persona on any one particular wrestler?
FA: No, not really. I try to be me and develop my own persona. I like to be different, ya know?

LS: What specific signature moves are you best known for?
FA: My elbow off the second rope, and my finish move, 'The Wings of Lead'... very painful to be in.

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
FA: Once. I was wrestling in Tennessee and went to splash a guy in the corner, he moved and I was caught off guard and ended up tearing some of the ligaments in my knee. It was very painful, but I managed through it to defend my Heavyweight Title the next night.

LS: Since you've begun, have you ever had a "Why am I still doing this" moment?
FA: Once, I had probably been in the business about a year, and nothing was going right for me. All that has changed now and I couldn't be happier.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponents?
FA: T-Money, he never gives up, is one big man, he always pushes me to my limits every time we are in the ring together. I would also have to say The Bang Bang Barracudas, Mike Levy and Chris Solar... they hit hard and don't give any slack!

LS: Who are your allies?
FA: The Texas Outlaw and Bubba...those guys always have my back.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
FA: Being the first last and only female to win the APW Heavyweight Title. I carried it for almost a year before I lost it. Also, being the first woman to win the EWA Women's title as well.

LS: What was your worst loss?
FA: When I lost the APW Heavyweight Title, I had suffered a knee injury the night before and it was just a bad weekend altogether!

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
FA: Mickie Knuckles... the girl can work. That's all that needs to be said.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
FA: I like them all, any chance to get in the ring is enjoyable.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
FA: "What! NO WAY! That's so cool! Do you wrestle guys?"

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
FA: Everything! There is nothing like going out in front of a crowd and having that adrenaline rush... it's like a legal drug!

LS: What are your fans like?
FA: One word: AMAZING!

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
FA: Bring back Kayfabe, man.

LS: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
FA: North Carolina and Tennessee for now. APW Heavyweight Champion, EWA Women's Champion, and SWWA Hardcore Champion

LS: What are your thoughts on women participating in the sport?
FA: As long as they are the ones that go out there and bust their ass and can wrestle, go for it! If you are going to do anything less...stay at home.

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the ring?
FA: Winning the APW Heavyweight Title.

LS: Any regrets?
FA: No, none at all!

LS: What do you suppose you would be doing if you couldn't be in wrestling?
FA: To be honest, I would probably be dead.

LS: What is your personal motto?
FA: I am the Dream, you are the Dreamer.

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
FA: To be honest, I am the happiest in the ring! I love it

LS: Anything else you'd like to add?
FA: Everyone can make their dreams come true... all you have to do is try.

LS: Thanks for making the time to speak with us!
FA: Thank you, it has been a pleasure!
