MC: Brett. Referee: Richard. An expectant audience anticipated an exciting mixture of both Pro-Style and Mat Based Women's Wrestling. How we were rewarded with superb displays of talent..... Mat Based Match: 10 minute duration. April vs Stacey K: April was the first out of the backstage locker room and is fast emerging as a firm crowd favourite since appearing consistently in the last few events here in Manchester. Her opponent, Stacey K. The 2 girls, although slight in their respective frames, showed incredible strength and determination right from the opening bell. Stacey commenced applying very strong looking leg holds. These, in turn, were counteracted by April in her traditional blue swimsuit. This intense affair soon developed into a battle of wills with a major focus on leg-locks and holds. An initial pin was soon equaled with a submission with 4 minutes remaining. At 1 fall each, the upper-hand was gained by a 2nd submission with 2 minutes left. The girl with the 2-1 advantage cleverly chose to take stock of her lead and seemed determined to hold out for the victory, showing strength and resistance when under extreme pressure from her opponent in the final minute. A 2-1 result brought this great opener to a conclusion. Pro. Style Match: 15 minute duration. Lisa Fury v Jenny Sjodin: Lisa, made a welcome return to the show; her first appearance since " Sudden Impact". Jenny, another audience favourite from Scandinavia, firmly established herself in this match as a no-nonsense, determined worker against the more flamboyant Liverpool lass, Lisa. The 2 ladies were evenly matched....Jenny applied a strong neck hold, cleverly reversed by Lisa. Jenny gained a 1 count from an arm-bar followed by a 2 count - firmly kicked out by Lisa. Lisa employed clever counter techniques as she sought to gain control on her overseas adversary. A spectacular roll-up was followed by a 2 count. Lisa threw a couple of body-slams into the mix as well as a camel-clutch. The bout was decided by a successful roll-up and pin, gaining a narrow and close fought victory.... Mat Based Match: 12 minute duration. Sue Scarlet v Venus: Next up, Sue Scarlet, greatly experienced in mat style contests having graced this arena on many occasions in the past. Venus, a very popular lady since making her debut at this show last July at "Thunderdome". A severe test of strength and endurance was a prominent factor with this bout. The slight difference in styles with Sue concentrating on leg and thigh work to weaken her opponent, whereas Venus used her upper body strength and "assets" to put Sue under immense pressure. A fantastic and very sporting match finished with a 2-1 victory. Pro. Style Tag Match: 15 minute duration. April & Janey B v Pippa L'Vinn & Shelby Beach: April and Janey - the "charismatic tandem" entered first. Their opponents none other than lethal Pippa L'Vinn, accompanied by the blonde bombshell - Shelby Beach, the "incomparable tandem". The first impression one would have of this match up would be a total domination of the latter more experienced duo.... this was not the case at all as the tenacious pairing of April and Janey were well up for this battle! Immediately, Pippa was caught off guard still discussing "match-winning" tactics with her partner when Janey leapt across the ring with a threatening hold. Pippa then appreciated that this was not going to be a stroll in the park and that her and Shelby would have to use every ounce of their substantial strength to gain a victory. Shelby soon entered the affray, body slamming her smaller opponent to the canvas. April attempted to overpower the Wigan girl by applying legs holds and leg locks. A furious pace ensued with the initial terrier like style of April and Janey slowly but surely tempered by the more experienced twosome. This highly entertaining match was heightened by Pippa's clever tactics and banter with the crowd. A resultant single pin decided this superb match. INTERVAL After the 20 minute Interval the pace re commenced with..... Pro. Style Match: 15 minute duration. Jenny Sjodin v Pippa L'Vinn: This proved to be a fascinating encounter and, I believe, maybe the first time these 2 great pro's have met in the ring. Pippa, certainly the favourite wrestler EVER of this humble reporter, looked focused and confident as she climbed through the ropes in this pro-style match. Jenny knew that she would have her work cut out to get a result against such a formidable opponent in Pippa. Undeterred, she gained an early 2 count before Ms L'Vinn cleverly kicked out. Pippa's full range of skills were were displayed for all to see, appearing to relish a match with such a dedicated and strong willed grappler as Jenny. Her many moves and holds were very much appreciated by a captivated audience. A keen, close fought match was concluded by a submission near to the 15 minute time limit. Mat Based Match: 10 minute duration. Sue Scarlet v Kandi: Sue returned for her second appearance of the day in her traditional "scarlet" one piece outfit. Facing her, show debutant and newcomer to the Wrestling Factory : Kandi. This sporting match opened up with Sue threatening to take ownership. Kandi, however, was having none of it and was full of promise and enthusiasm. Sue, again relying on her leg applications to weaken her combatant gained a first fall. Kandi, undeterred, fought back well and seemed to gain in confidence rather than the reverse, as the match continued. A very enjoyable and high scoring bout was secured by a pin and facesit to gain a 4-2 fall victory. We look forward to seeing Kandi back at future shows as Pippa speaks very highly of her. Handicapped Mat Based Match: 12 minute duration. Shelby Beach v Layla & Venus: Shelby certainly faced a test this time around...bravely agreeing to take on 2 opponents on a tag team basis. Initially, Layla locked up with the blonde with the glamourous Venus just aching to get in on the action, outside of the ropes. After clever manoeuvres by Layla, Shelby - urged on by the crowd - fought tremendously hard, bearing in mind she would have to face a fresh Venus at any time. Layla switched with Venus and this unique match soon started to form a pattern with 3 falls being executed. Then as the MC exclaimed "carnage ensued" as both Layla and Venus decided to take things into their own hands (literally) and both wrestled with Shelby at the same time....the 2 v 1 scenario continued as the referee soon lost control of the proceedings and it ended up as a "Demolition Derby" ....fun and exciting ! Pro. Style Match: 15 minute duration. Janey B v Lisa Fury: The penultimate contest featured Janey B against the more experienced pro. Lisa Fury. Janey showed superb athleticism, both in offensive and counter moves; mixing it up with armlocks and leg scissor holds. Lisa though is no rookie, far from it; applying a 2 count followed up by a painful looking camel-clutch. Janey continued to impress with her resistance and achieved a series of 2 counts, which Lisa did well to kick out from. This match rocked back and forth, no-one able to confidently predict a winner. However, with 5 minutes remaining a successful pin decided this superb and fast paced match. Pro-Style Battle Royal : 15 minute duration: Pippa L'Vinn. Shelby Beach. Jenny Sjodin. Lisa Fury. Janey B The final match of this wonderful show was a 5 lady Battle Royal...no pins or submissions; the sole remaining lady in the ring after the other 4 girls were thrown out either over or between the ropes. Allies and enemies were formed and quickly dispersed as it was every girl for herself. A frantic pace was maintained throughout, some girls seemingly forgetting that pins and submissions were to no avail and only physically removing an opponent from the ring would suffice. Who would emerge as the ultimate winner in this free for all display of pro style wrestling ? Summary: Yet another fantastic show with everything one could ask for - intense Mat Based action complemented by fast paced pro style excitement. A wonderful effort by all of the ladies who performed today with a perfect balance of experienced performers along with exciting debuts. The privileged audience were treated to wrestling of the highest quality with beautiful girls in glamorous costumes.
