Ordinarily, if you're a newcomer to the amateur grappling ranks in the UK, you really don't want
Pippa L'Vinn taking notice of you. If she does, it usually consists of her mentally painting a
target on you, and then carrying that out by giving you an education
in pain on the mats.
But for the young woman known in grappling circles as Raven, the attention she's receiving from the
veteran wrestler is of a different variety. For one thing, Raven has already wrestled with Pippa
several times. And although the rookie has lost each encounter, every time she notably improved
her performance…so much so, that L'Vinn herself began to comment with admiration to others on
Raven's development.
A compliment from Pippa is a high praise indeed, but what came next for Raven was nothing short
of unprecedented: She asked the newcomer to meet with her, and told her that she was mightily
impressed with what Raven had accomplished thus far, and even more so by what she could potentially
accomplish in the future. Then came the bombshell, as Pippa told Raven she would like to mentor her.
What's more, she would even like to partner with her in amateur or pro/am tag team matches!
And thus is born the Blackbirds, making a seismic shift in the balances of power in the amateur
grappling world!
Rest assured, fans of the Red Hot Mamas, Pippa will continue to partner with Shelby Beach for
pro wrestling tag bouts. But when it comes to amateur action in the Southern Belles Club,
Raven will be at her side.
And already, this remarkably opportunity has paid dividends for Raven. Shortly after undertaking
training with Pippa, Raven wrestled Viktoria. Now, Belles fans know full well how accomplished a
fighter the blonde Hungarian is, and she was expected to take the victory in this match. So imagine
Viktoria's surprise when in the end, it was Raven who drew the final submission!
Keen-eyed spectators noted that the brunette's repertoire of moves has grown substantially,
no doubt the beneficiary of her working with L'Vinn.
What's next for the Blackbirds? They're keeping their options open and their plans a secret at
the moment, but it's safe to say that we will be hearing quite a bit about this new partnership
in the months to come!
