It seems that all too often, amateur women's wrestling is overshadowed by the pro side of the sport. But every now and again, a talent emerges who is so fantastic, she draws as much attention as any professional fighter. One such glamourous grappler is Ashley Wildcat, and LadySports is pleased to help introduce her to fans all over the world in this exclusive interview! LADYSPORTS: Welcome to LadySports, Ashley. Tell us when did you first get into the sport?
ASHLEY WILDCAT: I began in 2012.

LS: And who trained you?
AW: Any particular Carlson Gracie BJJ affiliate school you want to mention in Chicago.

LS: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
AW: The Female Wrestling Channel, they got me into wrestling.

LS: What other sports do you have an interest in?
AW: Softball and baseball mostly...football, too. Obviously UFC.

LS: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality, likes, dislikes, and strengths?
AW: Sassy and hilarious! I’m nice, but most people annoy me. Can you tell I’m feeling sassy today?

LS: What is your most marked characteristic as a wrestler?
AW: Crap talker. Many don’t think I’ll be as strong as I am. I’m like the beautiful flower that draws you in, and once you get close you realize it’s not a flower at all, but truly a cactus that will prick.

LS: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
AW: I mix it up...BJJ, weights, cardio, yoga.

LS: How would you best describe your mat style?
AW: Semi-pro, playful, sassy and bubbly.

LS: What move are you best known for?
AW: My scissors. I have a head scissors that will KO you!

LS: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
AW: Yes I have. I currently have a torn ligament in my thumb, and I'm faving six months or possibly surgery to heal. It doesn’t help that I’m too stubborn to stop wrestling! I’ve also had my nose broken, a bulging disc in my neck, and nerve problems in my ankle.

LS: Who have been your toughest opponent?
AW: Myself Why? I have high expectations to be the best. My longest running rivalry has been with the company I started with, the FWC. It’s a love/hate relationship. As far as actually tough on the mats...Keri Spectrum beat me, so there’s that. I’ve had competitive sessions with men and have lost a time or two. It becomes my personal goal to be able to beat that person, no matter who they are.

LS: What has been your most memorable win?
AW: Beating Sarah Brooke’s sorry self.

LS: What was your worst loss?
AW: Keri Spectrum. Why is this? Well, because I lost!

LS: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
AW: Hollywood and Sklyer. Simply because they’re bigger names I haven’t yet worked with.

LS: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
AW: Simply put, the fun ones. I just want to enjoy it and be happy.

LS: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
AW: Smiles. After that, shock, and then they say, "Show me pictures!"

LS: What is so special about this sport to you?
AW: My alter ego comes out when I wrestle. In my normal daily life it’s not appropriate to go around pinching nipples or putting someone in a headlock whenever I want, so in this world of wrestling I can simply fully be myself!

LS: What are your fans like?
AW: Awesome!

LS: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
AW: Bye bye to the time wasters.

LS: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
AW: Across the U.S., including Hawaii, Canada, the U.K., and in Paris, France.

LS: What are your thoughts on women participating in the sport?
AW: Hell yes! Give me more... I love a hot chick that can hold her own.

LS: What was your most unforgettable moment in the sport? AW. Every moment, because it's always getting better.

LS: Any regrets?
AW: Sure. In particular I regret not having gone with my gut and saying no to a certain shitty deal I was stuck in.

LS: What would you do if you couldn't be in wrestling?
AW: Cry. I wouldn't want to spend my life working 8 to 5 for someone else. If I couldn’t wrestle, I would own gyms, explore the world and sing.

LS: What is your personal motto?
AW: Hakunamatata!

LS: What would make you most happy in life?
AW: Wine.... lots of wine ....

LS: Anything else you'd like to add?
AW: :I guess... MEOW! Drop by at <"http://www.ashleywildcat.com">AshleyWildcat.com
